At least 12 dead in Pakistan gas explosion
An explosion in the sewage system under a bank has claimed lives and sustained injuries.
A gas explosion in Karachi, south Pakistan, has claimed the lives of at least 12 people and injured 13 others Saturday.
The gas explosion happened in a sewage system where, according to a police spokesman, accumulated gas beneath a bank building blew up. The building is located in Shershah neighborhood, Karachi.
A doctor at the Trauma Center in Karachi, Sabir Memon, announced that at least 3 people among the 13 injured were in critical condition while several others were sent to intensive care.
In addition to many deaths, windows in the vicinities of the bank were shattered and nearby vehicles sustained damages.
Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab tweeted:
This is to confirm that 10 dead bodies have been recovered while 11 people have been injured in the Sher Shah blast. Investigation is going on to ascertain the cause of the blast & necessary treatment is being provided to the injured. Will give further updates

The police spokesman, whose name is Sohail Jokhio, contended that what caused the explosion is still not clear and that an expert team is investigating the incident.
