Finland: 5 Arrested on Terrorist Attack Suspicion
The Finnish police have announced remanding into custody 5 people on suspicion of making preparations for a terrorist attack.
The Finnish police announced in a statement issued Friday that they arrested 5 people "suspected of making preparations for a terrorist attack," according to the Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle.
"All the suspects were members of a far-right group," the police said in their statement.
The suspects have been charged with the intention to commit terrorist offenses and making preparations for a terrorist act under section 6 of the Finnish penal code. They are also being investigated for other crimes, including firearms offenses and aggravated theft.
According to local news agencies, the suspects planned to detonate a bomb, but the details of the terrorist plot have not yet been revealed.
All five suspects are Finnish, under the age of 30, and follow a far-right ideology influenced by accelerationist ideas.
