Palestinian administrative detainee Louay Faisal Mohammad Nasrallah, from Jenin, was martyred this morning at "Israel's" Soroka Hospital, to which he was transferred from the notorious al-Naqab prison.

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) confirmed Nasrallah's martyrdom, while no further details were disclosed regarding the circumstances of his death.

According to the statement, Nasrallah, 22, was detained on March 26, 2024, under administrative detention.

His death adds to the growing list of detainees who have been martyred as a result of systematic crimes practiced by the Israeli prison system since the outset of the ongoing genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Al-Naqab prison: Epicenter of grave abuses

The statement highlighted that the al-Naqab prison, where martyr Nasrallah was held, has long been a site of severe violations. Notably, the spread of scabies has turned into a lethal tool wielded by the occupation.

The martyr's family confirmed that he had no pre-existing medical conditions prior to his detention.

With Nasrallah’s martyrdom, the number of identified prisoners and detainees who have died in Israeli custody since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza has risen to 73, amid ongoing crimes of enforced disappearance.

Since 1967, the total number of known martyrs from the Palestinian Captive Movement has reached approximately 310.

Sharp rise in detainee martyrdom rates

The Commission and the PPS warned in their statement of the dangerously escalating rate of martyrdoms among detainees due to "Israel's" systematic policies that include torture, various forms of abuse, and medical crimes.

They described Nasrallah’s death as another crime added to the record of Israeli brutality, asserting that all forms of abuse have been used deliberately to kill detainees, which represents yet another dimension of the ongoing genocide.

The statement held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the crime and called on the international human rights system to take meaningful and effective steps to hold occupation leaders accountable for their war crimes against the Palestinian people.

It concluded by urging the imposition of sanctions on the occupation that would lead to its international isolation and restore the intended role of the human rights system.

It also called for an end to the unprecedented state of paralysis that has afflicted this system during the genocide, and the termination of the exceptional impunity granted to the occupation entity, which has allowed it to remain above accountability, justice, and punishment.
