The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Saturday marked the first anniversary of the assassination of the late Hezbollah Secretary-General, martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, condemning the killing as a blatant act of terrorism and reaffirming that justice for the crime remains an unwavering regional demand.

In a statement issued on the occasion, the ministry described the assassination as a premeditated act of murder carried out by the Israeli occupation, stressing that "the call to hold the Israeli perpetrators accountable will remain an enduring demand of the region's states and the free people of the world."

Tehran noted that Sayyed Hassan's martyrdom continues to symbolize the price of defiance against aggression and occupation. It hailed his decades-long struggle in shaping Lebanon's defense and sovereignty, recalling his pivotal role in transforming the Resistance into a national force capable of deterring "Israel's" repeated assaults. "Over three decades of leading the Resistance against aggression and occupation, the martyred Sayyed Hassan played a decisive role in strengthening Lebanon's power," the statement read.

The ministry added that a year after his assassination, the broader political landscape has made "even clearer that the expansionist policies pursued by the Israeli entity continue to threaten regional stability." Tehran noted that these policies, anchored in occupation, assassinations, and collective punishment, have not weakened the Resistance but rather deepened regional solidarity against Zionist aggression.

Larijani Reaffirms Resistance

Coinciding with the anniversary, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, arrived in Beirut to attend memorial ceremonies honoring Sayyed Hassan and his companions. During meetings with senior Lebanese officials, including Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Larijani reiterated Iran's support for Lebanon's stability and resistance, calling for regional unity against Israeli conspiracies and affirming that Hezbollah "does not need weapons from elsewhere" given its growing self-reliance.

Larijani's visit, Iranian officials said, reflects Tehran's commitment to cooperation with Beirut and other regional allies in confronting Israeli escalation and safeguarding sovereignty. His remarks echoed the Foreign Ministry's tribute to Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan and other Resistance leaders martyred alongside Sayyed Hassan, figures Tehran described as embodying the shared front against tyranny.

By reiterating its condemnation and call for justice, Iran framed the commemoration not merely as a remembrance, but as a renewed pledge of resistance, one that ties Sayyed Hassan's legacy to the ongoing struggle of the Palestinian people and to the wider axis of nations refusing subjugation.
