Iran to change nuclear doctrine if 'Israel' threatens its existence
Iran has once again warned "Israel" against threatening its existence, otherwise, it would change its declared nuclear doctrine.
Iran announced that it would change its nuclear doctrine should "Israel" threaten its existence, a senior adviser to the Supreme Leader said on Thursday, according to Reuters.
Contrary to what the West claims, Iran has consistently reiterated that it does not intend to build a nuclear bomb. "We have no decision to build a nuclear bombÙˆ but should Iran's existence be threatened, there will be no choice but to change our military doctrine," Kamal Kharrazi was quoted as saying by Iran's Student News Agency (ISNA).
Although Iran has the necessary capabilities to develop a nuclear bomb and advanced nuclear weapons, it previously banned such activities saying they were religiously forbidden.
However, in the case of Israeli threats against Iran's sovereignty and interests, Kharrazi said Iran would shift its deterrence policy if the occupation threatens or decides to attack its nuclear facilities.

Previous warnings
In April, Iran made the same warnings amid growing Israeli threats to the country's nuclear plants.
"The threat from Israel to Iran's nuclear facilities allows Iran to reconsider and deviate from its declared nuclear doctrine and policy," Ahmad Haghtalab, the IRGC commander in charge of security of Iran's nuclear sites, according to Tasnim News Agency.
Reiterating statements made by Iran's top military and political officials, including the Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, Haghtalab added that Iran is ready to repel any Israeli aggression on its nuclear facilities and subsequently respond to the attack.
Expressing confidence that the Iranian nuclear facilities will be safe and secured, he maintained, "From the very beginning, Iran was ready to counter threats from Israel. Thanks to the use of passive defense plans, as well as the most modern weapons, thanks to the dispersal of nuclear facilities throughout Iran, we are ready to counter any threat from Israel to our nuclear facilities."
