Khatibzadeh on Red Sea Maneuvers: Iran Sensitive Regarding Regional Security
Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson comments on the recent Red Sea maneuvers, saying that
Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson commented on "Israel's" maneuvers with the US, UAE, and Bahrain, and noted that Iran is sensitive on matters of its domestic and regional security.
The Spokesperson, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said that Iran stresses the importance of enforcing stability and preventing destabilization, considering that "some countries are mistaken in their calculations in dealing with the Zionist entity". He further highlighted Iran's certainty that everyone knows well enough not to harm the Islamic Republic's national interests.
Asked by reporters about a story published by Israeli and Saudi media about Iran's military representative in Syria being expelled, Khatibzadeh considered everything being spread about the IRGC commander in Syria to be baseless rumors that warrant no reply, since "story-making by Zionist media and sometimes by certain other countries is nothing new."
The US Navy led security drills in the Red Sea that brought together Bahrain, "Israel" and the UAE in a drill that was the first of its kind after the signing of normalization accords with "Israel" under the Donald Trump administration.
In a statement released last Thursday, the US Navy said that UAE, Bahraini, and Israeli forces began conducting a multilateral exercise on maritime security operations in the Red Sea with the Central Command of the US Naval Forces.
