A new poll has revealed that the vast majority of people in the United Kingdom believe Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should be detained if he ever visits Britain, The National reported.

A Find Out Now survey conducted on November 22 indicated that 42% of people want him imprisoned after the International Criminal Court issued warrants for him and former Israeli Security Minister Yoav Gallant last week for war crimes in Gaza.

According to the survey, only 14% of respondents did not want Netanyahu imprisoned after the warrant.

Nearly two-thirds of Labour voters (58%) indicated they wanted the Israeli Prime Minister arrested if he visited the UK, while LibDem supporters agreed (57%).

Green supporters were the most eager to see Netanyahu jailed (76%), while Reform voters were the least enthusiastic, with only 28% voting for his detainment.

Foreign Minister David Lammy said on Monday that Britain would adhere to the proper legal procedures were Netanyahu to visit the UK, in response to a question about whether London would comply with the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant for the Israeli Prime Minister.

Lammy told reporters at a G7 meeting in Italy, "We are signatories to the Rome Statute, we have always been committed to our obligations under international law and international humanitarian law."

"Of course, if there were to be such a visit to the UK, there would be a court process and due process would be followed in relation to those issues."

On the same note, the British government stated on Friday that Netanyahu may be detained on an International Criminal Court arrest order if he travels to the United Kingdom.
