Serious negotiations underway in Vienna: Al Mayadeen correspondent in Vienna
Al Mayadeen correspondent to Vienna says many issues like the sanctions imposed by the Trump administration remain unresolved, necessitating further discussions.
Al Mayadeen correspondent to Vienna reported today that things may be headed toward serious negotiations regarding the nuclear agreement.
He added that meetings taking place on Monday will be aimed at removing existing obstacles, detailing that many issues still lack a serious approach, such as the sanctions imposed on Iran by the former Trump administration.
It is noteworthy that Iran's lead negotiator in the Vienna talks, Ali Bagheri Kani, told Al Mayadeen that the path Iran followed during the negotiations was a successful one, noting that the negotiations during the previous days were focused on setting a framework for discussing the disputed points to speed up reaching an agreement.
In the same context, the advisor to Iran's negotiating team, Mohammad Marandi, confirmed to Al Mayadeen earlier that the Europeans have changed their position slightly on the two drafts which the Iranians previously submitted.
Earlier today, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said the likelihood of reaching an agreement has increased, adding that Iran's proposals reflect the utmost seriousness to reach an agreement on restoring the JCPOA.
During the 7th round of the Vienna nuclear negotiations, the Iranian delegation to Vienna had five demands, the most pressing of which is the lifting of JCPOA-related sanctions.
Iran has presented two drafts to the Vienna Talks on sanctions removal and Iran's nuclear commitments, with the lead negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani saying that Iran presenting these two drafts bears a testament to its seriousness in the talks.
