The Israeli I24NEWS website cited an informed Israeli official as saying that the interference in the Global Positioning System (GPS) devices at Ben Gurion Airport originates from Syria and Lebanon.

According to the media, Iris Raz, head of the environmental and engineering division of the "Israel" Airports Authority, confirmed that in recent months, the Israeli occupation "has experienced non-stop GPS jamming from unknown sources," likely from outside "Israel".

Raz added that planes are sometimes unable to land using the standard procedure as a result.

The informed Israeli official claimed the "unknown sources" are in Syria and Lebanon.

The Israeli Channel 12 reported that Israeli occupation authorities are looking into whether the jamming was caused by Russian cyber security units in Syria and the region.

The Israeli channel KAN pointed out that this phenomenon existed in recent years but intensified in recent months, noting that the GPS jamming did not cause damage to the operation of aircraft that had additional navigational means installed.

Earlier, Israeli media pointed out the GPS jamming is causing planes entering "Israel" to take a longer route, which passes through illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, before landing at the Ben Gurion Airport.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli Pilots' Association and other airlines strongly rebuked the Israel" Airports Authority's behavior, warning that it endangers the safety of flights.
