US Officials Call for Calm in Lebanon
Members of US Congress condemned "violence" in Lebanon, calling for an investigation into the Beirut port explosion.
Democratic Senator Chris Murphy stated on Thursday that all parties in Lebanon must condemn the brutality of yesterday's attack, and pursue true responsibility for investigating Beirut blast.
Ilhan Omar expressed her panic at the news in Beirut, adding that the crisis in Lebanon is an avoidable tragedy, calling on the US to play its part to reduce tensions and help end this unprecedented economic crisis.

Earlier on Thursday, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the US joins the Lebanese authorities in calling for the de-escalation of tensions.
Price affirmed that the US does not support the intimidation of the judiciary in any country and supports the independent judiciary in Lebanon.
US Senator Jim Risch tweeted his concerns about the escalating levels of instability in Lebanon, calling for continued investigations into the Beirut port explosion.
The American statements came after a shooting attack left 8 peaceful protesters martyred in the Tayouneh area in Beirut.
On Thursday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an end to the violence in Lebanon, due to the ongoing investigation into the Beirut port explosion.
