Vienna Talks: Discussions over Abolition of US Sanctions Initiated
Iranian TV announces the end of the second day of negotiations in Vienna, and the Russian envoy reports the Americans' readiness to lift all sanctions on Iran.
Iranian television announced the end of talks on the second day of the current round of negotiations in Vienna, and participants discussed the issue of lifting US sanctions and ways to push the talks forward.
The technical committees concerned with the lifting of sanctions on Iran met yesterday, Tuesday, to discuss the matter, in addition to the US guarantees Iran is demanding.
It is noteworthy that the Russian envoy in Vienna had conveyed that the Americans were ready to lift all sanctions.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein AmirAbdollahian said that Iran is ready, has good faith, and sees the tangible results of lifting the US sanctions.
In an article on the course of negotiations on the nuclear agreement, AmirAbdollahian stressed that the US greed is behind the failure of the six previous rounds of Vienna talks, and Iran wanted to achieve its rights through these negotiations by canceling all kinds of embargoes imposed on the country.
Markov: Iran's demands are logical
The head of Russia's Institute of Political Studies, Sergei Markov, said that Iran's demands during the Vienna negotiations to revive the nuclear agreement are logical.
In an interview with IRNA correspondent in Moscow, Markov considered that the new round of nuclear negotiations, which began last Monday in Vienna, Austria, was constructive.
He believed, "The parties to the negotiations, including Iran, the P4+1, and the United States, are making efforts to remove obstacles from their path."
According to the Russian expert, there are two main obstacles in the path to a solution regarding the nuclear deal.
Iran demands ending US embargo
Markov added that Iran has a logical demand to cancel the US embargo on it, because Washington imposed this ban after its withdrawal from the nuclear agreement, and it must cancel it before returning to the agreement. In return, Iran will play its role as well.
Iran demands guarantees from the US
The other obstacle, according to Markov, is Iran's other demand for clear guarantees that the US will not reverse its commitment to the nuclear agreement, which "is also a rational requirement."
It is noteworthy that European diplomats told Reuters yesterday that 70 to 80% of the negotiations agreement has so far been completed.
Zionist role in sabotage
Yesterday, an informed source in Vienna told Fars News that there is a role for the Zionists in sabotaging the nuclear agreement.
It is noteworthy that Israeli media reported yesterday, "the frustration of Arab countries and 'Israel' over the nuclear talks with Iran."
The Arab affairs correspondent at the Israeli Channel 13 said that "regarding the nuclear talks, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and additional countries look at their side and simply say that it is an end reality,” adding that “there will be an agreement; the Americans have simply submitted and will continue to submit to the Iranians.”
White House Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Monday, "We believe diplomacy is — should always be the first option," in terms of the nuclear deal talks, noting that Biden is fully committed to restoring America's position in the international arena.
"Our team remains prepared to return to another round of discussions, but I don’t have an update on when those might occur," Psaki added.
Earlier yesterday, Al Mayadeen's delegate to Vienna confirmed that the technical committees concerned with lifting sanctions on Iran had begun their work.
