Serbia & Spain Qualify to FIFA World Cup 2022
Spain qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup by defeating its guest, Sweden, while Serbia beat its host Portugal and guarantees a seat.
Serbia surprised its host Portugal, defeating them 2-1, in the tenth round of Group A, thus qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Portuguese team was ahead with a goal scored by Renato Sanchez only two minutes into the match.
The Serbian team managed to equalize in the 33rd minute with a goal by Dušan Tadić.
This result persisted, this meant that Portugal was going to qualify for the World Cup, that until, the 90th minute, Aleksandar Mitrović scored the winning goal and guaranteed qualification for Serbia.
This marks the fourth time that Serbia managed to qualify for the World Cup and the second in a row.
As for the Portuguese national team, its fate will be decided by the outcome of the play-offs after it came second place in the group.
Spain qualifies for the World Cup
Spain qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup by defeating its guest, Sweden, 1-0, in Seville, in the tenth round of Group B.
Alvaro Morata scored the winning goal for Spain in the 85th minute.
Although a draw would have qualified Spain, it confirmed its worth to win to qualify for the World Cup for the 16th and 12th time, respectively.
On the other hand, Sweden will play the play-off after finishing second in the group.
