Tehran unveils 'Maryam-e Moghaddas' Metro Station honoring Virgin Mary
Iran has opened Maryam-e Moghaddas Metro Station in Tehran, a tribute to Virgin Mary that merges church aesthetics with Iranian architectural geometry. Tehran's Mayor Alireza Zakani said the station was designed "with light, arches, and silence" and "recalls the divine woman who awakened the world through her purity and by nurturing a great prophet." Zakani also stated, "The purpose of such naming of this station is to honor Saint Mary and to showcase the coexistence of Divine religions in Tehran." Footage from inside the metro station reveals Quranic inscriptions, paintings, and engravings celebrating Virgin Mary, turning an ordinary metro stop into a shared space where Muslims and Christians meet under one name and culture.
