Boris Johnson: Should I stay or should I go?
No matter who wins the coveted seat of British Prime Minister, the rest of us will lose.
These immortal lyrics were written by the British Punk Rock band 'The Clash', and have never been more appropriate than they are today.
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble, if I stay there will be double,
so you just got to let me know, should I stay or should I go?
Well it's the Conservative 1922 committee who may ultimately decide Mr. Johnsons' future, should he stay or should he go!
Having survived a recent vote of no confidence from within the ranks of his own party, this under the present regulations would have secured his tenure as a leader for another year, but that could all alter on Monday at the next 1922 committee meeting where it is rumored to rule changes that might allow a second vote of no confidence within that twelve-month period?
Perhaps the government's official opposition might also call for a vote of no confidence allowing Conservative rebels to bring the government down, although this is less likely to succeed.
It appears the Teflon politician, to whom nothing has previously stuck long enough to affect his political career, may have finally come to a sticky end.
Between the Partygate scandal, the 38 billion pound track and trace covid fiasco, sleaze, accusations of serial sexual misconduct by several of his elected government colleagues, wedded to his dubious choice for deputy Conservative party whip, Chris Pincher, who is accused of unwanted sexual advances towards several men, it appears the party might truly be over for bungling Boris.
As of date, more than 40+ members of the government have resigned.
These include several high-profile figures such as Chancellor Rishi Sunak, Sajid David, Pritti Patel, and the now-sacked Michael Gove.
While Teflon Boris, blunders on as leader and Prime Minister, he has suffered a mortal blow.
Like Ceasar who succumbed to the political machinations of his political rivals, Rishi Sunak is best placed to act in the role of Brutus and succeed in replacing Boris as the new Emporer and lead imperial Britain forward in its continued quest for war and conquest.
While the leaders may play musical political chairs, rest assured the people of Britain will continue to be ruled over by millionaires and billionaires, by the incompetent, the corrupt, the greedy, and the sexually exploitive.
Those on minimum wage, on state benefits with two jobs and two children, aging parents, and a diminishing income, will continue to suffer under the duopoly of power that masquerades as democracy in Britain.
The vulnerable will fall, the needy will go unheard and the desperate will be dispersed to the four winds.
As food banks flourish and flesh withers perhaps nothing short of a class revolution can save this disunited Kingdom from near-total collapse.
As the ruling class strives to accrue more wealth and power through its political and military war on Russia via Ukraine, while it feeds off the carcasses of Ukrainian conscripts, just like in the first World War, their arrogance and greed will create many unnecessary deaths, many widows and much destruction.
No matter who wins the coveted seat of British Prime Minister, the rest of us will lose.
I began this piece quoting The Clash, I will end it quoting from Hamlet:
"To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them"
If now is not the time to end this, when is?
If we are not the people to end it, who is?
Carpe Diem, seize the day.
