23 May 2000: Lebanese prisoners liberated from the infamous Khiam prison
Two days before the withdrawal of the last Israeli soldier from the occupied southern region of Lebanon, more than 100 prisoners were liberated from Khiam prison after citizens stormed the facility.

Khiam prison was notoriously known as one of the most ruthless prisons run by Israeli forces in the Middle East. -
Khiam prisoners were unlawfully jailed and underwent different forms of barbaric torture over years. -
These prisoners were able to embrace freedom thanks to the Lebanese Resistance's efforts to liberate the occupied Lebanese lands.
