Most Iconic Super Bowl Halftime Show to Date?
The mecca of US sports and one of the most-watched TV moments in the US will be even greater than it ever was this time with its most iconic roster of artists to date.
The lineup for the 2022 Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show was revealed, and everyone is buzzing about the performers - some going as far as calling it the "greatest Super Bowl halftime show ever."
The iconic lineup was a collaboration between Pepsi, the NFL, and Roc Nation. They announced today that "Five hitmakers unite for Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show," revealing that the artists taking the stage on one of the most-watched American television broadcasts of every year will be Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Mary J. Blige.
The show will take place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on February 13. It will be a homecoming for multiple artists in the lineup, namely Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar, as all of the three hip-hop behemoths emerged from LA and will share an "unforgettable cultural moment" on stage, as Dr. Dre put it.
It is being argued that the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show will be the greatest of all time due to the status of the artists that will be performing and the numbers they have generated. Together, the quintet has 43 Grammys and 22 #1 billboard albums - Eminem ranking highest with 15 Grammys and 10 #1 albums.
Dr. Dre made a statement saying, "The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career."
"I'm grateful to JAY-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment," he added.
This show will be the third collaboration between Pepsi, the NFL, and Roc Nation; speculations say it would be the most successful of the three.
