Scarlett Johansson Ends Her Dispute with Disney
Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson resolves her dispute with Disney over the lawsuit that she filed against the company in July, as both sides look forward to upcoming collaborations.
On Thursday, Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson resolved her dispute with Disney over the lawsuit that she filed against the company in July.
In a statement, Johansson said that she was "happy to have resolved" her differences with Disney and that she looks forward to continuing their collaboration.
The terms of the agreement were not disclosed to the public.
For his part, Alan Bergman, chairman of Disney Studios Content, expressed Disney's appreciation for Johansson's "contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe" and said he looks forward to working with the actress on a number of upcoming projects.
This comes after Johansson had sued the Walt Disney Co. over their breach of contract with her.
Disney had originally released the new Marvel film, Black Widow, which stars Johansson in the titular role.
The contract between the two sides stated that Johansson was slated to receive a percentage of the box office revenues, but Disney eventually released the film simultaneously in theaters and on its streaming service Disney+ for an additional $30, depriving Johansson of potential earnings.
According to Marvel, Black Widow made a revenue of $80 million at the North American box office on its opening weekend, while it made $60 million globally on Disney+.
