The Andrei Stenin International Contest for young photojournalists has announced its finalists in Moscow, marking the contest's 10th anniversary.

This year's competition saw a diverse range of participants, with the finalists representing ten different countries.

Notably, the 2024 shortlist includes entries from young photojournalists in Syria, South Africa, and Myanmar for the first time.

The jury for this anniversary year comprised only international photojournalists who are previous Grand Prix winners of the contest, bringing a wealth of expertise to the selection process.

The panel reviewed around 2,000 submissions from 557 competitors across 36 countries, including nations like China, India, France, Iran, and the United States.

Shortlist for 2023 Andrei Stenin photography contest announced

Oksana Oleinik, the curator of the contest, highlighted the jury's dedication to selecting the most remarkable works from a diverse array of photographs.

She encouraged the public to explore these selections on the contest's website, emphasizing the inspiring creativity of young photographers.

Winners of the contest, including the prestigious Grand Prix, will be announced in September, with the results to be posted on the contest website.

Additionally, a touring exhibition featuring the winning entries is planned for the end of the year, showcasing these works in various countries and cities.

The Andrei Stenin Contest is organized by the Rossiya Segodnya media group under the auspices of the Russian Commission for UNESCO.

It aims to support young photographers and draw attention to the challenges faced by contemporary photojournalism.

The contest is backed by a variety of media partners, including Al Mayadeen, Sputnik, RT, and numerous other international and Russian media outlets.
