An Iranian picture exhibition held in Brasilia aimed to mark the 120th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between Iran and Brazil.

Hossein Gharibi, Iran's ambassador to Brazil, spoke at the event's opening ceremony, A portrait of Iran: Iran through visual art, and touched on the two countries' 120-year history of bilateral ties. Gharibi noted that "today, we come together to demonstrate the power of art and culture as a tool for bringing our two nations closer."

Moreover, the ambassador highlighted that "over the decades, Brazil and Iran have established a strong and fruitful partnership that has resulted not only in economic and trade exchanges but also in cultural exchanges."

For his part, the deputy governor of Brasilia for international affairs cited the two nations' effective collaboration in the domains of cultural exchange, politics, and economics.

The official envisaged the show as a cultural gift for the Brazilian capital.

Three Iranian films with Portuguese subtitles will be played in addition to the three-week photo display.

Tehran ready to sign long-term agreement with Brazil: Iranian FM

Iran is ready to sign a long-term comprehensive agreement with Brazil to increase the trading volume between the two countries and develop deeper cooperation, the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told his Brazilian counterpart earlier in June.

The two top diplomats discussed the historic ties between the two nations on the sidelines of the BRICS summit for foreign ministers in South Africa's capital, Cape Town.

Amir-Abdollahian highlighted Brazil's support for Tehran's membership in BRICS, noting that its accession will strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations and boost trade volume.

Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira considered emphasized that relations with Iran have great potential to grow, adding that visiting Tehran would be a good opportunity to establish further plans for enhancing mutual relations.

Vieira expressed Brazil's opposition to the Western unilateral sanctions against Iran, stressing that the lifting of sanctions will allow the expansion of ties between the two countries.

Joint plans to commemorate the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Iran and Brazil were also discussed in the meeting.
