Willis Gibson, a 13-year-old from Oklahoma, managed to consistently build up the pace with the falling blocks Tetris game, reaching a "kill screen", where the game seemed to short-circuit with blocks hovering and the score maxed out at 999,999.  

Previously, only bots powered by artificial intelligence had forced the game into this "kill screen". 

In a screen-recorded video, we see the kid muttering "Please crash" as he eliminates lines of blocks, before the game crashes, his score maxed out, and he starts wheezing in amazement.

“Oh my God! Yes! I’m going to pass out. I can’t feel my hands.”

“It’s never been done by a human before. It’s basically something that everyone thought was impossible until a couple of years ago," Vince Clemente, the president of the Classic Tetris World Championship said. 

Willis dedicated his win to his late father, Adam, who died last month.
