Beijing condemns US placement of Chinese entities on sanctions list
China criticizes the new US sanctions, claiming they undermine international trade rules, hinder economic exchanges, and threaten global supply chain stability
Beijing opposes the US decision of placing several Chinese entities on its export control "entity list," a Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesperson said on Sunday.
The spokesperson responded to the media's query concerning the US Department of Commerce's placing Chinese entities on the list for alleged Russia-related reasons.
According to an online statement issued by the spokesperson, the decision is an act of unilateral sanctions and extrajudicial authority.
The statement criticized the US decision, emphasizing that the action undermines international trade orders and regulations, hinders economic and trade exchanges, and threatens global supply chain stability.
The spokesperson further urged the US to cease its unjust actions against China, adding that Beijing will enact the necessary measures to protect its entities' legitimate rights and interests.
Biden's new nuclear strategy targets 'China threat'
Within the past week, the US has implemented various methods through agreements and plans to restrict and reduce China's defensive and economic power in a bid to contain it.
US President Joe Biden has endorsed a revised US nuclear strategy aimed at addressing what the US perceives as potential coordinated nuclear threats from Russia, China, and DPRK, according to The New York Times report on Tuesday.
Simultaneously, the White House claimed that the strategy, approved earlier this year, is not directed at any single nation or threat.
White House spokesperson Sean Savett stated that while the specific details of the guidance are classified, its existence is public knowledge.
The updated strategy alleged US concerns about what it perceives as China’s rapid expansion of its nuclear arsenal, which is projected to rival US and Russian stockpiles within the next decade.
