“Arab Al Pacino”
Mahmoud Abdel Aziz is recognized as a one-of-a-kind actor with a versatile style.
For his audience, Abdel Aziz is "the delectation maker," whose performance, no matter what role he plays, always spreads joy.
He got his first taste of acting at the student theatre while studying agricultural science at Alexandria University.
In 1974, Mahmoud Abdel Aziz starred in his first film, Al Hafeed (The Grandson), which earned him critical acclaim and went on to become an Egyptian cinema classic.
His characters frequently reflected Arab world realities, social commentary, and criticism, such as his famous role in 1991's Al Kit-Kat as an eccentric blind religious cleric who dreams of riding a motorcycle.
In the 1988 television series Raafat Al Hagan, Abdel Aziz played an Egyptian spy planted in “Israel”. It was inspired by the true story of Rafaat Al Gammal.
He is survived by his wife, TV host Boussy Chalabi, and two children, Mohammad, a producer, and Karim, an actor.
