The newly launched "green mine" will use highly efficient mineral processing technologies
On Friday, the Chinese mining corporation Zijin announced the opening of a new large copper and gold mine in the Serbian city of Bor, which is anticipated to enhance Serbia's copper output share in Europe while meeting EU criteria as a "green mine."
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the Chinese ambassador to Serbia, Chen Bo, both attended the Cukaru Peki mine's official launch.
Vucic lauded the high technological and environmental standards, after a tour of the facility, saying that Zijin's purchase of Serbia's state-owned mining corporation RTB Bor in 2018 saved the company from bankruptcy.
The new mine according to Vucic, is "an enormous thing for Bor and the whole of eastern Serbia."
According to Zijin, the newly launched "green mine" would use highly efficient mineral processing technologies to extract one of the world's greatest resources of copper and gold
Chen Bo said she was "very happy that the mine is built as an advanced green mine, which fulfils Chinese, Serbian and EU standards."
