Syria, Iran Ink Four Cooperation Agreements
Tehran announces plans to establish a joint bank with Syria, in a move aimed at deepening economic cooperation and trade exchange between the two countries.
Iran Trade Promotion Organization revealed a mutual project with Syria to establish a joint bank aimed at facilitating trade and financial exchange between the two countries.
The Director-General of Iran Trade Promotion Organization, Alireza Peyman Pak, pointed out that four cooperation documents were signed with the Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade during the former’s visit to Syria as part of developing trade between the two nations.
The Organization said that the joint bank will be essential to support the implementation of the recently inked agreements.
Peyman Pak added that a lot was achieved during this visit and meetings with senior Syrian officials on developing trade between the two countries.
In 2019, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran discussed with his Syrian counterpart the issue of establishing a joint bank aimed at facilitating the activity of businessmen.
At the time, the two sides agreed to establish a joint banking committee comprising representatives of Syrian and Iranian banks under the auspices of the central banks of both countries to follow up the implementation of the memorandums of understanding.
