Heavy rains devastate Cuba, claim the life of 3
Thousands have been evacuated across various eastern and central Cuba due to heavy rains which started on Thursday and extended until Monday leaving three dead and acres of crops destroyed.
Heavy rains devastated eastern and central Cuba throughout the past five days and authorities, on Monday, announced that three people have died while thousands have been evacuated.
Cuba faced heavy rains from Thursday which only subsided later on Monday claiming the lives of three individuals.
It is also worth noting that recovery operations in the provinces Holguin, Camaguey, Granma, Santiago de Cuba, and Las Tunas, as well as in Sancti Spiritus, remained underway.
About 7,500 people were evacuated from Granma while 1,730 acres of crops were destroyed.
Reportedly, bridges, roads, and the sewage system have also been reportedly damaged by the heavy rains across several provinces.
"We are going to recover, no one will be helpless," President Miguel Diaz-Canel promised on Sunday.
Significantly, in June of 2022, hurricane Agatha which initially hit Southern Mexico, flooded western Cuba also claiming the lives of three individuals and displacing thousands.
