Moderate Earthquake Hits Bali Island
An earthquake rocked the Indonesian tourist island of Bali on Saturday, killing three people.
On Saturday morning, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake4.8 rocked Indonesia's Bali island, killing at least three people, according to Indonesia's search and rescue agency.
The tremor struck the Karangasem and Bangli districts on the eastern side of the tourist island, and the agency stated that the search was over, but officials were still keeping an eye on the situation.
Two of the fatalities were killed by a landslide caused by the earthquake. A third person, a three-year-old girl, was killed by falling wreckage.
The tremor struck just as Bali reopened to foreign visitors on Thursday following an eight-month period of restrictions following the COVID-19 pandemic.
