The New York Times newspaper mentioned that Japan is making efforts to control the outbreak of coronavirus and to control the rates of cases in the Olympics. The government is also trying to implement a new tactic, which is the public shaming of violators of the quarantine rules.
The identities of three persons who violated Covid-19 guidelines after returning from overseas were revealed by Japan's Health Ministry on Monday. According to an official statement, the three persons - who had returned from South Korea and Hawaii - had clearly tried to avoid contact with authorities. Moreover, all three tested negative for the virus at the airport, but subsequently failed to report their health condition and did not respond to calls from the health authorities.
In May, the Japanese government stated that around 100 individuals per day were violating border control laws, and it indicated that it would soon begin disclosing the identities of violators.
There have been relatively few infections at the site of the Olympics - about 300, and officials said that they have recorded more than 8,300 daily cases nationwide, a slight dip from the weekend’s records of more than 10,000.
