China Donates 500,000 COVID-19 Vaccines to Syria
The Syrian Health Ministry has announced receiving half a million Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines from China in light of Damascus' efforts to combat the pandemic.
China donated 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines on Sunday to Syria of its Sinopharm vaccines.
Earlier, Syria had received more than 1.3 million doses of China's Sinovac under the global Covax program, as part of Damascus' efforts to combat the pandemic.
Health Minister Hassan Ghabash, speaking to journalists, praised the latest Sinopharm donation.
On his part, Chinese Ambassador Feng Biao said Sunday's consignment raised to 800,000 the number of Sinopharm doses provided by Beijing.
Ghabash said Damascus has vaccinated more than 600,000 people and called on more Syrians to get their shots.
Syria has registered 46130 COVID-19 cases so far, including 2661 deaths and 27583 recoveries.
