China reports first COVID-19 death since 6 months
Chinese TV CCTV said that the current death was a mild case; however, the man's health condition was exacerbated after a bacterial infection.
China reported its first death from COVID-19 in 6 months on Sunday, reporting a rising outbreak despite the strict measures which were implemented across provinces.
The country has implemented lockdowns, mass testing and quarantines to fight the spread of the virus at home.
On Sunday, municipal officials announced an 87-year-old man died in the capital, Beijing, as the National Health Commission recorded over 24,000 cases in the past 24 hours, across the country.
The number is low compared to other countries; however, the rise in cases and the current death raises some concern.
On November 11, Beijing announced its easing of coronavirus restrictions, reducing quarantine times for international arrivals to China.
