EU Warns Against "Pandemic of the Non-vaccinated"
The European Union chief executive urged world leaders to speed up the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic during a debate at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.
EU executive chief Ursula von der Leyen asked world leaders during a debate held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France to speed up the vaccination rate for the Covid-19 virus. The executive warned of a future pandemic the world would have to deal with.
The EU chief von der Leyen stated that the vaccination rate for the coronavirus must be quickened, warning of a future pandemic calling it "a pandemic of the non-vaccinated."
70% of the EU population will be vaccinated against the COVID-19 by the end of August after it stated the vaccination process at a slow rate.
Moreover, she announced that 200 million vaccine doses will be provided to impoverished countries by mid-2022 as part of the EU's previous commitment to giving 250 million shots.
Apart from addressing the COVID-19 vaccination rate, von der Leyen also announced that the EU had put fighting climate change and global warming at the top of its agenda. The EU hopes it would be able to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
