Fauci to step down as Biden’s chief medical advisor, NIAID Director
According to Fauci, he will be leaving his position in December to pursue the next chapter of his career.
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director and chief presidential medical advisor Anthony Fauci said Monday he will be stepping down from the two positions in December to continue his career elsewhere.
"I am announcing today that I will be stepping down from the positions of Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, as well as the position of Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden. I will be leaving these positions in December of this year to pursue the next chapter of my career," Fauci said in a statement.
Fauci plans to continue his scientific and public health careers, by mentoring the next generation of leaders to help prepare them for future infectious disease threats, the statement added.

Dr. Fauci has served as an advisor to every US president since Ronald Reagan. He has been director of the NIAID since 1984 and has made contributions to HIV/AIDS research and other immunodeficiency diseases, both as a research scientist and as the head of the NIAID.
However, in January this year, the disclosure of Fauci's finances raised a lot of questions about the sources of his wealth.
During the pandemic year of 2020, their household income, perks and benefits, and unrealized gains totaled $1,776,479, including $868,812 in federal income and benefits, $113,298 in outside royalties and travel perks, and $794,369 in investment accounts.
The financial disclosures contain a plethora of previously unknown data. The Fauci family's net worth exceeds $10.4 million.
He has also been accused several times of being involved in a conspiracy that he was aware of the Coronavirus' point of origin, as per a Congress document.
Last June, the NIAID paid $9.8 million to government researchers last year to develop a treatment for Monkeypox, according to the National Pulse.
