Nicaragua announces new cancer treatment center with Russian support
The new facility, called the Nuclear Medicine Center, will be centered around cancer diagnosis and treatment, and training health professionals.
Nicaragua declared on March 26 that it plans to construct a radiation medicine center, mainly for cancer treatment, backed by Russian support.
Vice President Rosario Murillo informed TV station Canal 4 that a Nicaraguan Health Ministry delegation signed the deal with representatives of the Russian state-owned company Rosatom in the Russian city of Sochi.
She added that the Nuclear Medicine Center, the new facility, will mainly work on diagnosis and treatment of cancer and training health professionals.
Murillo also mentioned that this project signifies a further strengthening of scientific cooperation between Nicaragua and Russia.
