Scientists Discover Link between AstraZeneca and Blood Clots
Researchers believe they have discovered the biological process that causes lethal blood clots in some people following the AstraZeneca jab.
Cardiff University researchers discovered that a protein in the blood likes to bind to a portion of the AstraZeneca vaccine, causing dangerous clotting.
The coronavirus particles in the vaccine do not cause the reaction; rather, the system used to deliver it inside the body does.
The AstraZeneca vaccine contains coronavirus genetic material encapsulated within a weakened version of the common cold virus, known as an adenovirus, which infects chimps.
According to the new research, adenovirus attracts a protein called "platelet factor four" to it like a magnet.
Clots have been linked to 73 deaths in the UK, out of 50 million doses of AstraZeneca.
It is worth mentioning that Cardiff University was given government funding to investigate the cause of the clotting. Researchers soon discovered that people who had clots had extra antibodies that attacked "platelet factor four."
The findings were reported in the journal Science Advances.
