Police officer guilty of murdering ex-footballer Dalian Atkinson
A police officer is convicted of the manslaughter of the former professional footballer Dalian Atkinson after firing an electric stun gun into him and kicking him in the head.

Policeman Benjamin Monk of the West Mercia force was convicted of killing former professional footballer Dalian Atkinson by a jury at Birmingham crown court.
Monk was accused of lying in court about the murder and kicking and stamping on Atkinson’s head while he was barely conscious on the ground.
Atkinson was kicked with a force that put his blood on Monk’s police-issue boot laces.
The jury convicted Monk after 18 hours and 48 minutes of deliberation. He was first convicted of murder but then unanimously convicted of manslaughter.
From Telford, Shropshire, Atkinson was confirmed dead 70 minutes after the incident on 15 August 2016.
