28 bodies found in Burkina Faso's northwest over weekend: govt
Twenty-eight men were found dead in Burkina Faso.
Twenty-eight bodies were found in northwest Burkina Faso over the weekend, the government reported.
"The government was informed of an incident at Nouna... during the night of December 30-31," a statement said. Preliminary reports "indicate 28 people killed," it said late Monday.
On Monday, the Burkinabe civil society organization CISC blamed the Nouna attacks on armed civilians posing as Homeland Defence Volunteers (VDP), a group that receives government funds and training to help fight insurgents.
