Algerian truck drivers were attacked by an armed group on the outskirts of Gao, Mali, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the armed attack took place at two o'clock on Friday morning, on the outskirts of Gao in Mali.
The ministry indicated that the attackers demanded money, and after they failed, they resorted to using their firearms, which resulted in the injury of three Algerian truck drivers, one of whom is in a critical condition.
One of the injured was discharged from the hospital, while the other two are under medical supervision, the ministry added.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the convoy consisted of seven tracks, with 7 drivers on board, hired by an Algerian company that transports goods.
The attack took place in a camp that drivers usually use to take a break, and was carried out by an armed group of four individuals using Kalashnikovs.
It is worth noting that no party has claimed responsibility for the attack.
