36 dead in Brazil's deadly Sao Paolo floods, landslides
One of the victims was a 7-year-old girl.
Brazilian sources reported on Monday that over 30 people have died and at least 330 have been left homeless by the destructive floods and landslides that devastated Sao Paolo.
Carnaval celebrations, which were supposed to be held until February 22, were canceled due to the disaster.

According to reports by the Brazilian G1 news portal, the coastal areas have sustained the most damage, and some highways had to be shut down due to the flooding, including the Rio-Santos, Mogi-Bertioga and Tamoios highways.

The report further reveals that about 36 people died, 35 of them located in the municipality of Sao Sebastiao; one of the victims was a 7-year-old girl.

As for civilian residences, about 338 had their homes destroyed by the landslides.
A state of emergency has been declared across the region, and military helicopters have been deployed to carry out rescue operations.
