7 people, 2 minors injured on July 4th mass shooting in Washington DC
The police officer states that the shooters opened fire at local residents who had been celebrating the Fourth of July.
Washington DC's Metropolitan Police Department confirmed on Wednesday that nine people, including two minors, were wounded in a mass shooting during Fourth of July celebrations.
Leslie Parsons, assistant chief of the Investigative Services Bureau at the DC police, said that the police received a report of a shooting at around 1 am EST (05:00 GMT) and upon arrival, they learned that several victims were struck by gunfire.
"All of our victims have non-life-threatening injuries. We do have a total of nine victims. Two of our victims are juveniles, one being nine years old, one being 17 years old," Parsons stated.
She added that the shooters opened fire at local residents who had been celebrating the Fourth of July.

Multiple mass shootings took place during yesterday's celebrations.
Forth Worth, Texas, also witnessed a shooting that left at least three dead, and in Philadelphia five were killed.
Mass shooting hits US Philadelphia, kills four
Four people were killed and four others were wounded in a mass shooting Monday night in Philadelphia in the latest chapter of the US gun violence crisis, as per media reports.
Philadelphia police spokesperson Miguel Torres said as quoted by AFP there were multiple gunshot victims but provided no numbers or details.
The Philadelphia Enquirer, CNN, and other news outlets reported that a suspect in the shooting in the eastern city's Kingsessing neighborhood had been arrested.
The Enquirer reported that at least two teenagers were among those shot.
