800,000 people left without electricity in the US following snowstorm
A snowstorm hits the US, leaving over 800,000 people, mostly in Michigan, without power.
A major snowstorm has left over 800,000 customers without power in the US, according to poweroutage.us, the monitoring service.
According to the agency, the storm mostly affected Michigan, where 730,000 people were without power as of February 24 at 7:24 GMT. Additionally, residents of Wisconsin, New York, and Illinois have also reported some widespread blackouts.
In Michigan, authorities declared the death of a firefighter after coming in contact with a downed power line, as a result of the storm on Wednesday night.
Moreover, approximately 30,000 Californians are still without energy as a result of the severe snowfall in the west of the country.
On Thursday night, around 1,000 flights were canceled in the US due to bad weather, according to FlightAware data.
