Al Mayadeen announces an annual shield to honor Palestinian prisoners
The CEO of Al Mayadeen Media Network, Ghassan Ben Jeddou, hands the Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement Ziad Al-Nakhala, during a dialogue meeting, an honor shield in recognition of the heroes of Operation Freedom Tunnel.
Al Mayadeen Network has dedicated September 6 of each year as a day to honor 11 Palestinian prisoners, provided that the network chooses 4 prisoners while the rest will be chosen by the parties concerned with the prisoners.
Eleven heroes received the honor shield this year: The 6 prisoners who broke out of Gilboa prison in Operation Freedom Tunnel and the 5 prisoners who assisted them.

This year's honor shield consists of:
1- The base of the shield has images of the eleven heroes of the operation.
2- Above the base appear the prison bonds, broken and destroyed.
3- Freedom is represented by the Chukar bird that prisoner Mahmoud Al-Arida saw after liberation.
4- The six lines up are smoothly drawn and correspond to the number of the liberated heroes.

During an exclusive interview with the Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziad Al-Nakhalah, on Monday, Al Mayadeen's CEO Ghassan ben Jeddou presented Al-Nakhalah with an honor shield in recognition of the heroes of the Freedom Tunnel.
Al-Nakhalah said that "Al Mayadeen has been the voice of the freedom fighters and resistance in Palestine and everywhere and must be recognized as the primary media channel of the resistance."
It's noteworthy that Al Mayadeen has chosen the 6 Palestinian prisoner heroes who carried out Operation Freedom Tunnel as "Person of the Year 2021", showing the world the true meaning of resistance and resilience.
