Armed suspect at North Carolina University campus in custody
According to WRAL media, students and staff have been instructed to stay sheltered for the time being.
According to media reports, a suspected shooter at North Carolina's university campus has been apprehended.
Earlier Monday, North Carolina police reported an "armed and dangerous" person was roaming at the University of North Carolina premises at Chapel Hill.
“Police report an Armed and Dangerous Person On or Near Campus,” according to the University statement.
The statement released by the police urged students and staff to take cover in a safe place due to the ongoing situation with the "suspect at large."
Governor Ron Cooper said he communicated with local law police and promised them all necessary assistance in apprehending the gunman and protecting the school.
