Death toll in Johannesburg building fire reaches 52
The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services spokesperson confirms that the death count may continue to rise as 43 are injured.
The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services confirmed to Sputnik on Thursday that the death toll in a fire in a multi-story building in South Africa's capital has reached 38, but according to their post on X (formerly Twitter), the toll has now reached 52.
This comes after a multi-story building set on fire in South Africa's capital.

"[A total of] 38 bodies have now been confirmed to have died," spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said earlier in the day, after adding that the fire has been put out.
Mulaudzi said that 43 people were injured in the fire, noting that the cause of the fire is still being investigated.

This news comes exactly a week after the end of the BRICS summit in the capital.
