A loud blast shook the Demre wholesale market in Antalya on Monday afternoon. The explosion, which occurred around 15:15 local time, is believed to have been triggered by an oxygen cylinder stored inside the facility.
Emergency teams, including police, fire brigades, gendarmerie, and medical units, were immediately dispatched to the site. According to initial reports, one person was killed in the incident, while three others sustained injuries. Two of the injured are said to be in critical condition. Authorities have yet to release the identities of the victims.

Demre Mayor Fahri Duran confirmed the tragic loss of life, noting that the deceased was a local trader working in the market. "An elder brother who was involved in the buying and selling business inside the wholesale market lost his life. Three of our workers are also injured. According to the information I received from the hospital, two of the workers are in critical condition," he stated.
