Explosion rocks one of Yerevan markets, says emergencies ministry
The country's health ministry reported that the number of injured has risen to 26.
An explosion hit the Surmalu wholesale market in Yerevan on Sunday, sparking a large fire, according to the country's emergency ministry.
"An explosion rocked the Surmalu market, after which a fire started with the third category assigned. A firefighting and rescue team was sent to the spot, and later two more," the ministry said.

According to preliminary data, the fire broke out at a firework warehouse at the Surmalu wholesale market, which caused a detonation.

There have been fatalities as a result of the explosion, according to witnesses. The preliminary reports indicated that a fireworks warehouse is on fire.

"Twenty-six people that have been wounded in the explosion, are receiving medical treatment at Yerevan’s hospitals," the ministry said.
The emergency ministry had previously reported one death. Three underage youngsters have also been identified among the injured. The market is located not far from the center of Yerevan.
