Flood in India Forces Newlyweds to Float to their Wedding
Floods hitting southern India force a couple to cram themselves in a pot and float to their wedding.
After severe rain wreaked havoc on the southern state of Kerala, an Indian couple arrived at their wedding ceremony in a unique way, sailing through the flooded streets of their town in a cooking pot.
The newlyweds were crammed into the pot while two men and a photographer paddled them through a flooded street, as seen in footage published on social media.
According to local news agency PTI, the couple borrowed the pot from a nearby temple, claiming that it was "the only alternative" available at the time.
The couple was unfazed by the flooding and landslides caused by severe rains, which claimed the lives of at least 27 people across the state.
The bride and groom were later seen arriving safe and sound at a small, partially flooded, temple in Thalavady, where they exchanged floral garlands, as is customary at Hindu weddings.
So this couple from Alappuzha district in Kerala used a large cooking vessel to wade through the flood water to get to their wedding venue. Even the wedding venue was flooded, but fortunately they managed to get married without missing the muhurtham time :) pic.twitter.com/mqldzgKIkd
