According to NBC News, a US judge sentenced sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein's colleague Ghislaine Maxwell to 20 years in jail on sex trafficking and sexual assault charges.

According to authorities, Maxwell played a crucial part in Epstein's sex trafficking plot by sexually exploiting underage girls for years.
Maxwell was convicted in December on five of six offenses relating to the sex trafficking of young females. Her conviction for underage sex trafficking carries a potential sentence of 40 years in jail.
In Maxwell's trial, prosecutors requested a sentence of 30 to 55 years in jail.
It is worth noting that the charges against Maxwell stemmed from 1994 to 2004.
