Gunman arrested after shooting at Canberra airport
Police confirm arresting the only man suspected of shooting bullets at Canberra Airport on Sunday afternoon.
A suspect was detained after gunshots were heard at Canberra Airport on Sunday, and no injuries were reported, Australian police said.
"About 1.30 pm [03:30 GMT] today (Sunday 14 August 2022) police were called to the Canberra Airport following reports of gunshots in the main terminal building," ACT Policing said in a statement, adding that "shortly after one person was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered."
While the motive behind the shooting has not been known yet, the person detained is believed to be the only suspect, the police said.

"The Canberra Airport terminal was evacuated as a precaution and the situation at the Airport is contained," ACT said.
Shots were heard in the check-in area, and a mass evacuation followed, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
