India: Monkeys kill 250 dogs in revenge massacre
Monkeys in the Indian state of Maharashtra take revenge on dogs for killing one of their young.
A pack of monkeys sparked a conflict with local dogs in a small Indian town.
Around 250 canines were hauled to the tops of buildings and trees and dumped by a gang of rampaging monkeys who were enraged with the pups after one of their young was killed, according to local media.
Locals in Maharashtra's Beed region, roughly 300 miles east of Mumbai, told News 18 that the monkeys were out for vengeance and that no dog had survived the purge in the adjoining Lavool hamlet.
Villagers informed the source that the killings began about a month ago when a few dogs killed an infant monkey and that since then, simians have been picking up the puppies and dragging them somewhere high to kill them.
A little dog can be seen in the grasp of a primate near the brink of a building in one shot from the animal fight.
Sources confirmed that nearly all of the pups in the Beed district have been killed, but the monkeys still haven’t stopped and are now targeting small children en route to school, the outlet said.
