The Iranian news agency IRNA reported the death of two security personnel in a clash with a gunman who was holding hostages in the city of Farsan, confirming that the gunman also died later after being tracked down.
A police source said patrol teams were able to identify the license plate of the kidnapper's car. The source added that the patrol officers were able to identify the car and asked it to stop, but the gunman opened fire on them, killing two.
"The gunman who was riding in the car was killed during the clash, and an employee of the city of Farsan was wounded," the source explained.
