North Carolina mass shooting leaves 3 dead, 6 injured
A suspect has been detained by the US Coast Guard after the fatal shooting in North Carolina.

Authorities in North Carolina confirmed three people were killed and six others were injured after gunfire erupted Saturday night at a popular waterfront restaurant.
The shooting occurred around 9:30 pm at the American Fish Company restaurant in the Southport Yacht Basin. According to city officials, shots were fired from a boat toward patrons gathered at the venue.
Southport Police Chief Todd Coring said during a press briefing that six victims were transported to local hospitals, though their conditions remain unknown.
Suspect in custody
Authorities also confirmed two active crime scenes, one in Southport and another in nearby Oak Island. The suspect, who was reportedly seen fleeing toward Oak Island along the Intracoastal Waterway, was later detained by the US Coast Guard around 10 p.m. after being spotted loading a boat at a public ramp.
Police are questioning the individual as a person of interest. Officials stressed there is currently no known ongoing threat to the public.
The victims’ names have not yet been released pending family notification.
